Trainee Road Rally Marshal
(White Badge/Orange Dymo)
Upon first joining the Club the trainee marshal will be issued with a Trainee Road Rally Marshal badge ONLY if they have indicated preference in favor of road rallying.
There will be no pre-requisites for being issued with a Trainee Road Rally Marshal badge. The Trainee Marshal will be issued with a grading card for the Road Rally Marshal grade, and also a grading card for the Stage Rally Marshal grade to run in parallel.
Road Rally Marshal
(Brown Badge/Orange Dymo)
In order to gain the Road Rally Marshal grade the trainee should attend sufficient road rallies to gain twelve signatures over a period of not less than one year, and preferably within two years, as follows:
- Two Passage Controls
- Four Time Controls (Minute)
- One Time Control (Second)
- Two Other Duties (Open)
- One Public Relations for Route
- One Trainee Road Rally Training
- One Fire Training
Examining Road Rally Marshal
(Brown Badge/Orange Dymo 'X')
The marshal should already hold the Road Rally Marshal grade, and must have held that grade for a period of at least two years. During that time they should have regularly worked in a senior capacity on road rally events, in particular gaining significant experience in the public relations arena. Additionally they should also be familiar with the operation of all types of timekeeping equipment used on the events.
Subject to meeting the above criteria, the marshal may then apply to the National Grading Administrator for upgrading to Examining Road Rally Marshal. The National Grading Administrator will then send a questionnaire to two Examining Road Rally Marshals of the BRMC's choice. These questionnaires, when completed, will be examined by the BRMC National Committee. After due consideration, upgrading to Examining Road Rally Marshal will be confirmed, deferred or refused. If upgrading is refused the marshal will be provided with appropriate feedback and may re-apply in a further twelve months.
In order to maintain standards Examining Road Rally Marshals will be required to attend at least one Road Rally Training day every two years. Anyone not conforming to this rule may, at the BRMC National Committee's discretion, have their examining grade removed. The BRMC National Committee may require examining grade members to attend a special examining members seminar, in which case, this would count for the above requirement. In the event of a marshal having their examining grade removed under this ruling, they may re-apply for the examining grade in a further twelve months.
